WYEP Final Friday
I've been a fan of 91.3FM WYEP for many years. As a lover of music,
all music, WYEP has always been a place to find the music that speaks
to the soul and gives the creative, non-mainstream, rent-paying,
guitar-slinging musician a venue . Yes, I grew-up on Led Zeppelin,
The Stones, Pink Floyd and Frampton, and there will always be a place
for that music, but my god it's not the only music. If it weren't for
WYEP I would never have been introduced to bands like Radiohead,
Gillian Welch, Micheal Franti, Wilco, Beth Orton, Gomez, North
Mississippi Allstars, Erin McKeown, Phish or String Cheese Incident...
WHAT, no String Cheese Incident??? Through the years I was a host on
Sunday mornings, Overnight, Monday Evenings, Wednesday Evenings and
finally Friday Evenings. Last Fall I decided it was time to move on,
which is never easy when something becomes part of who you are and
what you love. The loyal listeners and callers probably kept me doing
what I did for longer than I should have. I recorded my final night
because I thought maybe it would be cool for my kids to listen to in
fifty years when I'm long gone and they want to remember the sound of
my voice. Thats the morbid reason, the other reason is that I played
all of my favorite tunes and I figured I could just listen to it
whenever.
Thank you for listening through the years and I hope you like this
final show.
